People I look up to

My Mom, my Step Dad, my Dad, my friends Shane and Janette ( married couple ), my friend Peggy and her family, my friend Corey and his family.

Interesting facts about me

I suppose this might be as good a place as any to briefly describe how I became involved in 1/6 figure customizing.

When I was a kid I remember being very interested in several figure lines ( Mego, G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Heroes in Action, Star Wars, etc. ) As long as it was a figure I was interested. I was also interested in art ( drawing, painting, etc. ) and movie special effects, with an emphasis on miniatures and prosthetic make up effects. Eventually those interests converged, and I was kitbashing and customizing different creations. Some even made it onto celluloid via my friend's 8mm film camera. Fun times.

I rediscovered 1/6 figures in 1999 while shopping a local Toy R Us for Star Wars Episode One figures. That's when I purchase a 21st Century Toys carded figure which consisted of a base figure, base BDU and detailed weapon ( HK MP5 ) By the time I was out of the store and walking to the car, I had the figure out of the packaging and was examining the MP 5 to see how I could further detail it. My first Dragon ( DML ) figure followed shortly thereafter. At that point both my collection, and customizing were on the way.

I really like to modify and scratchbuild - nothing beats having an idea or inspiration and pursuing it to completion. I thrive on the comrade and sharing of creative ideas that exists on the boards ( OSW, MWD ) The chance to see the work of other customizers and bashers is refreshing and inspiring. I feel very lucky to be a part of that.

Outside of this hobby I enjoy outdoor stuff ( camping even... at hotels - in the woods ) I have been into skateboarding for over twenty years, and still am unwilling to pack it in. One day I want to try surfing... looks like fun. I love movies, reading, and all the usual stuff people usually like to do.

Thank you for reading ( brief history image ) I hope to develop friendships and skills through my membership to MWD.

Best regards, Mike

I think they were between $7 and $9, nothing crazy. Like I said, I'm in Vegas every 6th months. I saw them last August, and they were still there in February when I was there last. I bought 2, and there were quite a few left.

No idea. I don't even know what the buddy list is for. As much time as I spend at OSW I have no idea what most of the funtions and sections are for. p.s. I posted some pictures of the pay phone and stuff at OSW. Thread is called 1/6 OCD. I'll be back in Lost Wages in August, if you want a phone let me know and I'll if they still have them.

I will check out your thread. Hey, if the phones aren't over the top expensive, I will happily take you up on that - and of course compensate you for the trouble.

Pretty sure he uses the same handle. He says he mostly lurks here, and replies little. Ross was over at my place Saturday when I read your reply - Made us both laugh. We've both been feeling a little stuck with the SciFi project. I have finally found my direction and Ross is close to being finished with his. I've found Ross is graet for bouncing ideas off of. Drinking coffee and butt talking is much easier in person.

Hey, I don't know if you know how to do this - or if the MWD board has such a function... but is there a way to add you to my buddy list???

I pick up a Scene It game from 1/6 depot. My company designed the box art for the actual game, I had to get the 1/6 version. Yep, Ross is a member here too. He's sitting across from me looking at a Brom book.

SCI Fi contest - beating my head against the wall trying to come up with something that is original. Military bashed are cool but man am I getting bored of looking at variations on the same theme. I recently found some SWEET 1:6 items that are compelling me to do a an extraordianry dio or ordinary people doing ordinary things. I have an amazing pay phone fridge magnet I found in the Las Vegas airport (also a coffee maker and a chainsaw, not as cool though). And I just found at an asian market "Mini Meals" for $4.50 each.

I love that kind of stuff, The payphone sounds particularly cool. I picked up some 1/6 Nontendo parts form onesixthdepot... Very fun stuff.

I hear you with respect to the military stuff as well.

Awesome, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project. Is it something your cooking up for the SCI Fi bash contest (sorry to talk about OSW at MWD)? By the way... Ross is the one who pointed me here. Thought I would enjoy the double D's more then the PMC's. MWD is very different from OSW. I've been re-inspired to get back to work on my girls. Between Takara and BBi I have at least 15 fem figs in need of some TLC.

Not for the contest - I am at a loss as to what I will do for the contest. I am thinking multiple figures, but I am having trouble coming up with the theme.

I am also really enjoying this board as well. It reminds me of OSW when I first joined - lots of bashing going on and lots of creativity due to the lack of market available figures. Now it is a little more difficult to come up with something new ( OSW ) as there are so many things being produced by the major companies... Like they are doing all of our work for us. I do like all the new figures though.

Is Ross a member here? He is a great guy - good sense of humor and very nice to talk with. Talented too.

How is your sci fi bash coming along?

Hi Mike, Would I be wrong in thinking your new avitar image is your work? I've only seen an image of it in the preview of the new 1:6 magazine coming out.

Wow - I am sorry I didn't see the comment until now. Thank you for the message - I did do that figure. It is part of a three figure ( one human and two robots bash ) I am going to post them at some point sooner than later I am hoping.
